How to Block Facebook on iPhone

Block Facebook on your iPhone with an App Limit, scheduled Downtime, website restrictions, or Aura's habit-based access.

Facebook can be useful for a Group, Marketplace listing, or event. The problem starts when that quick task drops you into a feed you did not plan to read.

You can limit the whole app without deleting your account. Pick a daily allowance, protect certain hours, block the website, or use Aura to make Facebook time something you earn first.

Set a daily Facebook limit

An App Limit is the simplest way to cap Facebook use across the day. The limit covers the entire Facebook app, including Groups, Marketplace, events, and the feed. Messenger is a separate app and needs its own limit if you want to block it too.

  1. 1

Open Settings and tap Screen Time.

  2. 2

Turn on App & Website Activity if needed.

  3. 3

Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.

  4. 4

    Open Social and select Facebook.

  5. 5

Choose a daily allowance and adjust individual days if needed.

  6. 6

    Tap Add.

Block Facebook during certain hours

Use Downtime when Facebook is mostly a workday or bedtime problem. You can leave Messenger and other essential apps available while the Facebook app stays blocked.

  1. 1

Go to Settings, Screen Time, then Downtime.

  2. 2

Turn on Scheduled and choose the days and hours.

  3. 3

    Turn on Block at Downtime.

  4. 4

Open Always Allowed and make sure Facebook is not included.

  5. 5

Keep Messenger only if you need it for direct communication.

Block facebook.com in Safari

Deleting or limiting the app still leaves facebook.com available. Add the site to Screen Time's Never Allow list if the browser becomes the workaround. This blocks Facebook links across browsers on the iPhone.

  1. 1

Open Settings, Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions.

  2. 2

Tap App Store, Media, Web & Games, then Web Content.

  3. 3

    Choose Limit Adult Websites.

  4. 4

    Add facebook.com under Never Allow.

Earn Facebook time with Aura

Aura keeps Facebook locked until you complete a healthy habit. One Aura coin buys one minute, so you can earn enough time to reply in a Group, check Marketplace, or scroll for a limited session.

When the minutes run out, Facebook locks again. Messenger, calls, maps, and every app outside your blocked list keep working.

  • Select Facebook as a blocked app.
  • Complete a habit and collect coins.
  • Spend the minutes you need.
  • Let Facebook lock again when the session ends.

Keep the useful parts deliberate

If Marketplace is the reason you keep Facebook, check listings and replies at one planned time. If Groups matter, turn off feed notifications and keep alerts only for the few communities you use.

The goal is not to make ordinary communication harder. It is to stop the feed from filling every quiet moment around the task you opened Facebook to finish.

Common questions

Does blocking Facebook also block Messenger?

No. Facebook and Messenger are separate iPhone apps. Add a limit to each one you want blocked, or leave Messenger available for direct communication.

Can I block facebook.com too?

Yes. Add facebook.com to Screen Time's Never Allow list under Web Content if Safari or another browser becomes the workaround.

Will deleting Facebook delete my photos or account?

No. Removing the iPhone app does not delete your Facebook account, photos, posts, Groups, or Marketplace listings.

Can Aura block Facebook but leave Messenger open?

Yes. Aura blocks only the apps you select. Choose Facebook and leave Messenger off the blocked list.

Apple changes Screen Time labels from time to time. If a menu looks different on your iPhone, see Apple's current Screen Time guide and content restriction guide.
